NC Quarters Program

Representatives from the North Carolina Numismatic Association and the Blue Ridge Numismatic Association (an association representing the southeastern states) met with officials from the NC Department of Cultural Resources on April 9 to discuss the NC commemorative quarter program. The NC quarter will be released in 2001.

Present at the meeting were Secretary of Cultural Resources Betty Ray McCain, Deputy Secretary Betsy Buford, and Archivist Jeffrey Crow. Representing the North Carolina Numismatic Association were Halbert Carmichael, president; Ted Hendrick, director, and Bob Schreiner, secretary/treasurer. Representing the Blue Ridge Numismatic Association was Judith Murphy, president. Also attending were Dot Hendrick and Claud Murphy. Here is the text of the Department of Cultural Resources press release, which details how people may submit design ideas. Crow will be the State official leading the NC quarter program.
